Non-Provisional Utility Patent/111(a) Application
This is a standard U.S. Patent Application. Most U.S. patent applications will fall into this category. It will usually take us at least 1 week to prepare this type of application. If a patent ultimately issues from this type of application, its term will ordinarily last 20 years from its priority date (frequently: 20 years from the date the patent application was filed). After the 20 year patent term has lapsed, it may not be renewed or re-extended for any reason.
Government fees required: At minimum, this type of filing requires a basic utility filing fee ($75 and up), utility search fee ($165 and up), and examination fee ($190 and up). Other fees can be applicable depending upon the circumstances -- however, most or all of these other fees can usually be avoided.
Formalizing figures: The United States Patent and Trademark Office has imposed a number of rules regarding patent drawings (acceptable margins, thickness of lines, angles of shadows/shading, etc.). Typically, a professional drafting agency is employed to formalize these drawings before the patent application has been filed. These drafting agencies set their own prices, but a typical utility patent application might require around $500 for this service.
