When might someone consider filing a 371 application over a bypass application?

2/4/2018

-To get the PCT's more lax "unity of invention" standard, rather than the restriction standard utilized by the U.S.P.T.O. for domestically filed patent applications.

-For translation security.  If the original PCT application was filed in a language other than English, you can always fall back to the original PCT filing in the event of a mistranslation.  You cannot do that with a bypass application.

-To slow down examination of the application.
