What is the difference between a TEAS Plus, TEAS RF, and TEAS Regular Application?

2/5/2017

TEAS stands for the "Trademark Electronic Application System."  There are essentially three paths to applying for federal registration of a trademark:

A TEAS Plus Application is the least expensive option (currently $225.00 per international class).  A TEAS Plus application requires submission of a complete application and an agreement that all correspondence with the United States Patent and Trademark Office will be submitted electronically.

A TEAS RF (Reduced Fee) Application also requires that all correspondence be submitted electronically, but does not require submission of a complete application.  A TEAS RF Application is more expensive than a TEAS Plus Application (currently $275.00 per international class).

A TEAS Regular Application does not require a complete application, and can be submitted on paper.  It is currently the most expensive option for federal registration ($400.00 per international class).
